Workhorse Group

Mechanical Engineer
Picture
In June of 2021, I joined the Workhorse Group as a Mechanical Engineer. My first six months were spent improving the existing product line at the company. In 2022, I began development on the new product line that would take over as the company's lifeblood, the W56 Step Van. Over the next 21 months, I helped develop this vehicle from the ground up in a complete vehicle design cycle. My responsibilities in the program include the cargo box, body structures, and exterior panels. I released over 100 parts on the vehicle including 22 unique extrusion profiles, custom-tooled composite panels, flat panel composites, and aluminum fabrications. I had my hands in many more parts as well. The truck is currently on the production line and being sold to customers in the United States.

My favorite part of this design process was being able to start with a blank slate, conceptualize the design, iterate, prototype, and test. I found the problem solving aspect of the design process very satisfying. Identifying the root cause of an issue and juggling ideas and requirements to zero in on a solution is something that I excel in.
Currently, I'm involved with continuous improvement on this vehicle and developing the next iterations for the company.
